FALL OPTI PRACTICE
What & Who: A Saturday practice series for Intermediate Opti Graduates up to First-Year RWB sailors and everyone in between! Parents are welcome to spectate/chaperone on the water in their own powerboats. Any parents interested in helping to coach an event can reach out to Trevor directly. All parents/guardians/volunteers must submit their SafeSport Certification to SSA prior to their first event if they plan to be directly involved.
When: This series will be held on Saturday's from September 9th until November 18th. Each Saturday will be weather dependent but generally will be held between 9-3. Some opportunities for weekdays may arise during the series.
Cost: The price for the season will be a $75 flat fee. You only need to pay this on the first day you sign up. Every other day that you choose to sign up for, you will choose "Returning Sailor" and you will not have to pay the fee again. You must individually register for every date that you plan to attend. Opti Charters are very limited and cost $25/day. If you wish to charter an Opti, please let us know so we can reserve one for you. Please note, Opti Fall Series registrations do not roll over from previous years or seasons.
How to Register: Check out our Opti Fall Practice Schedule and click on any "Opti Fall Practice" event - the first one is September 9th. In order to confirm a coach each week, participants must register for each date no later than the Thursday before the event. If it is your first time registering for the series, you must purchase a Season Pass at checkout. If you have already participated in the series and have purchased a Season Pass, you may choose "Returning Sailor".
What does my sailor need to bring (aside from their boat/sails/spars/etc.)? All the items you would normally need to bring to sailing (lifejacket, optional helmet, bailer, sunblock, etc.), plus some warmer gear for when it starts to get colder. A wetsuit is a good idea for fall sailing, as well as sailing gloves, a good hat, and a nice pair of neoprene booties. - Attachments
